Dr. Raymond La

Raymond La, M.A. Doctoral Student Clinician

Educational Background: MA in Psychology, San Diego State University. BS in Psychology with coursework completed for Mathematics Emphasis, University of California Davis. BA in Asian American Studies with coursework completed for Social Science: Sociology/Psychology Emphasis, University of California Davis.

Clinical Approach: Although I am not offering therapeutic services at Graceway Psychology Group, I have an integrative approach to therapy and am trained in cognitive-behavioral, third-wave (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness), and interpersonal psychotherapies. Additionally, I am trained in behavioral parent training treatment modalities for children with behavioral problems (e.g., Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, First Approach Skills Training for Behavior). I also specialize in working with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or neurodiverse clients. This therapeutic background also informs assessment in making sure recommended next steps are attentive to clients as a person and their specific needs.

About Me: I am a doctoral student clinician in Graceway Psychology Group's assessment practicum as part of my clinical training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign clinical-community psychology PhD program. As part of the assessment team at Graceway Psychology Group, I am providing psychological assessments to help determine possible Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and psychological disturbance across the lifespan. My assessment approach is to integrate an evidence-based approach while being attentive to how cultural and ecological factors (e.g., family, school, structural and institutional barriers) may be relevant in informing assessment and recommended next steps.
